ID & Authentication
For each use of the IT resources of the RRZ – within the regulations for use – an identification (access authorization) is required.
At the Universität Hamburg, there is essentially the user ID, also called B-identifier or STiNE-identifier, with which you authenticate yourself to the IT systems.
To make authentication even more secure and significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to the systems, two-factor authentication will apply at the university in the future (currently in preparation, more information to follow). In addition to the password, another element will be required for authentication, e.g. proof of ownership (of the device) or a fingerprint.
