About Us

As the central institution of the University of Hamburg, we are the competence and service center for the provision of information, communication and media technology (IT).

In close coordination with the IT service providers of the other universities, we make a significant contribution to providing the entire Hamburg university system with the IT it needs for academic purposes.

We support research, teaching, studies, libraries, administration and management with standard IT solutions and also develop specialized IT solutions for special requirements.

We are responsible for IT supervision and cooperate both with the faculty IT service teams and with external IT service providers on the basis of central, autonomous network sovereignty.

We actively participate in science-related networks, such as the German Research Network (DFN) and the North German Network for High Performance Computing (HLRN), and in the specialist associations Centers for Communication and Information Processing in Teaching and Research (ZKI) and the German Initiative for Network Information (DINI).
