  • We coordinate the university-wide use of IT resources as well as the specifications of standards and guidelines based on service-oriented IT architectures.

Mission

  • The RRZ is the central skills and service center for providing information, communication, and media technology (IT) at the University of Hamburg.
  • We closely collaborate with IT service providers at other Hamburg universities in providing essential IT services for the city’s entire higher education system.
  • We support research, teaching, studies, libraries, administration, and management with standard IT solutions but also develop specialized IT solutions where required.
  • We are responsible for IT supervision and thus cooperate with both the faculty IT service teams and external IT service providers based on centralized network sovereignty.
  • We are actively involved in academia-related networks, such as the German National Research and Education Network (Deutsches Forschungsnetz, DFN) and the North German Supercomputing Alliance (Norddeutscher Verbund für Hoch- und Höchstleistungsrechnen, HLRN), the German association of higher education IT centers (Verein der Zentren für Kommunikation und Informationsverarbeitung in Lehre und Forschung e. V., ZKI), and the German initiative for network information (Deutsche Initiative für Netzwerkinformation e. V., DINI).
