DFNconf
With DFNconf, you can hold conferences, give lectures, present files, use a chat function, and record your events and/or stream them live on the Internet, allowing you to reach a large number of people.
In addition to the video conferencing room systems previously offered at the RRZ (currently unavailable), in the main building of the UHH (currently unavailable), and in some faculties, departments, and other institutions, it is now possible to participate in web- and app-based video conferences directly from your work computer, from home using your computer, or via smartphones and tablets—even while on the go.
The DFN video conferencing service is free of charge for all members of the UHH and can be used without prior registration. You can access the DFN video conferencing service using your user ID (B-ID) and the corresponding password, as you are familiar with from using the UHH's KUS portal, for example. If you have any problems logging in, please contact the RRZ service line (tel. 040/ 42838-7790 or email rrz-serviceline"AT"uni-hamburg.de) with your University of Hamburg email address and your first and last name.
Step-by-step instructions showing you the various options offered by the DFNconf video conferencing service can be found here: DFNConf instructions (PDF file)
Would you just like to give an online presentation/lecture? We explain how to use this sub-function of DFNconf, set up an online presentation/lecture, start it, and use the “screen sharing” function to present a file in any format (using a PDF file as an example):
General information:
- Before a planned video or telephone conference, you should definitely talk to the other party or parties to find out what technology is available.
- It is also advisable to carry out a connection test a few days before the actual video conference to check the dial-in and the sound and image transmission.
- In addition to the connection details for the video conference, it is also very helpful to exchange other contact details in advance so that you can contact the other party in the event of a problem, e.g., by telephone.
- We are happy to offer you our support in planning and setting up your own video conference rooms.
