Research Projects
We are or have been involved in the following projects:
Parallelization of MITRAS
Website: https://www.mi.uni-hamburg.de/en/arbeitsgruppen/memi/modelle/mitras.html
Type: University internal cooperation
RRZ involvement: Consulting
Period: 2019-
Description: The goal of this software project is to parallelize the MITRAS program. The MITRAS model has originally been developed in the tropospheric research program funded by BMBF in a consortium of four partners coodinated by the Meteorological Institute at Universität Hamburg. In this project RRZ is a consultant to MITRAS devolpers at the Meteorological Institute.
ProfiT-HPC - Profiling Toolkit for HPC Applications
Website: https://profit-hpc.de
Type: DFG project
RRZ involvement: in all work packages
Period: 2017-2020
Description: The goal of ProfiT-HPC is to increase awareness for performance issues when running HPC applications. In order to achieve this goal a batch job monitoring tool set is implemented. The tool set collects per job resource usage metrics and presents them to users in easily understandable job summaries.
PeCoH - Performance Conscious HPC
Websites:
Type: DFG project
RRZ involvement: in all work packages
Period: 2017-2019
Description: The objectives of the Performance Conscious HPC (PeCoH) project are, firstly, to raise awareness and knowledge of users for performance engineering, i.e., to assist in identification and quantification of potential efficiency improvements in scientific codes and code usage. Secondly, the goal is to increase the coordination of performance engineering activities in Hamburg and to establish novel services to foster performance engineering that are then evaluated and implemented in participating data centers.
