Microsoft Office 365 Education

Microsoft 365 (M365) is a cloud based service provided by the Microsoft Corporation. Office 365, such as the apps Word, Excel etc. can be used as desktop apps or web apps in any given browser. After you booked this service, you can access many apps and manage documents and data as you choose.

Students and employees of the University of Hamburg can use /book this service voluntary. Your right of use lasts while you are matriculated/ employed or until the contract between the UHH and Microsoft ends.

Office installations can be activated on five PCs simultaneously, plus five mobile devices. This means you can use the Office 365 apps on ten devices online or offline.

Currently we cannot offer Microsoft Cloud Service (Office 365) support other than questions about login and registration/ booking.

Features and configuration

The Microsoft 365 workspace of the University of Hamburg has the following setup:

  • Exchange-Online (deactivated)
    There is no e-mail or calender features in MS Teams or functions of it (such as the app ToDo)
  • Office-Store (deactivated)
    AddOns/ AddIns or plugins canot be used in MS Teams or Office installations.
    Some apps provided can be used, such as Citavi and Endnote.
  • Sharing of content (with anonymous persons is not possible)
    Any data (on SharePoint-Online, OneDrive and Teams) can be accessed by registered guests.
  • No synchronisation or link between M365 accounts (cloud storage) and the UHH
    You must book the service voluntary to use it independently. Backup and managing your data is in your hands.
  • "Giphy" (deactivated)
