Central Login Service

How it works

With its central login service, the University of Hamburg provides a web service that allows users to log in to participating portals only once.

Use on publicly accessible computers

When logging in on publicly accessible computers, such as PC pools or laboratories, please check the box in the “Public PC” section. This is the only way to ensure that all portals discard the login information after closing the browser. Some portals, such as SharePoint, store login information for a limited time and it will still be available when you reopen the browser.

This setting does not need to be selected for normal use in the context of your work on a password-protected computer.

Functionality restrictions

Please note that if you check the “Public PC” box, the following functions in SharePoint may no longer work properly:

• Use of Microsoft Office products together with files stored in SharePoint (except for the web applications of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Integration and use as a network drive
