The Core infrastructure is the foundation of any digital transformation. Together with my team, I actively shape this core area—we turn ideas into reality quickly and create the basis for innovative IT across the university.

Hanife

My focus is e-learning. We ensure the university’s central learning platforms are reliable, high-performing, and up to date. This provides students and faculty with the technical foundation for optimal support in teaching and learning. Our applications simplify daily study and enable innovative teaching methods.

Nisso

I’m a career changer: I started in philology, then moved into IT through my first hands-on experience at the TestDaF Institute, which eventually led me to train as a webmaster. Today, I’ve been managing Linux servers, web applications, and databases at the Data Center for many years. New paths emerge when you’re willing to explore them.

Core infrastructure

The Core Infrastructure department forms the backbone of our IT. Depending on your focus, you can work in different areas: servers, storage, virtualization, backup, or central services such as identity management and file services.

Application systems

In today’s digital world, nothing works without devices and applications. In the Application Systems department, you’ll develop tailored software solutions, manage the applications of central university systems, and ensure that devices run reliably for teaching, research, and administration.

IT User Support

We are responsible for the university’s first-level IT support. In our young and dynamic team, there are plenty of opportunities for student assistants or career starters to gain their first experience in the IT world of the University of Hamburg.

Communication networks

Whether it’s network infrastructure, VoIP telephony, or mobile management, you’ll help shape the University of Hamburg’s communication systems. You’ll work closely with your colleagues and be involved from the very beginning in planning and implementing new solutions.

Media Competence Center

At the Media Competence Center, you’ll help design classrooms, web platforms, and info screens. You’ll assist with photo, video, and audio productions and ensure the right equipment is available. This way, you can actively contribute to media projects both technically and creatively while experiencing modern tech at the university.
