- Additional storage areas on RRZ servers,
- own WWW pages on RRZ servers.
As the utilisation of special rights is usually associated with additional coordination and consulting work, these applications must be submitted to the responsible system managers at the RRZ using the corresponding application form (usually via the RRZ service portal). Authorisation is usually granted for a limited period of time.

How to apply for this type of identification:
The user ID for lecturers can be applied for in many cases via the teaching assignment management.
The advantage of this type of user ID is that this type of ID is linked to a teaching assignment via the teaching assignment management of the various institutions.
As long as a teaching assignment exists, the teaching assignment management can take the special needs of the lecturer into account. If the institution concerned does not participate in teaching assignment management, a user ID for external users must be requested for these lecturers.
How long is this type of identification valid:
The user IDs for lecturers are subject to regular renewal.
The licence holders are reminded of the expiry date by e-mail in good time before the expiry date and informed about the renewal procedure.

WLAN Guest ID
WLAN guest IDs (guest Wi-Fi access) can be applied for by guests of Universität Hamburg who require simple Internet access for their own devices during their stay at Universität Hamburg.
Once allocated, the identifiers are personal and therefore non-transferable.
You can also find out more about guest Wi-Fi access via the SSID GUEST here.
Who receives this type of identification:
- WLAN guest IDs can be requested for the following groups of people:
- Guests of the University of Hamburg
- Participants in conferences, meetings or larger events
What can this identifier type be used for?
WLAN guest IDs are used exclusively to enable authorised persons to access the Internet at short notice and as easily as possible. The infrastructure of the university-wide WLAN is used for this via the SSID "Guest".
How to apply for this type of identification:
Only employees of Universität Hamburg can order WLAN guest IDs in the RRZ-ServicePortal.
- The number of orders is limited to prevent misuse.
- The service can only be ordered once per day per person. This means that if, for example, you need 20 passes with a validity of 30 days, you need to order 10 passes each for the required period on 2 consecutive days.
- Identifiers can be ordered here.
- General information about the RRZ ServicePortal can be found here.
How long is this type of identification valid?
- A basic distinction is made between 2 types of WLAN guest identifiers:
- Individual identifiers
- Number 1-10, authorisation-free, validity up to a maximum of 90 days
- Identifiers for events
- Number 11-1000, subject to authorisation, valid for a maximum of 14 days
- Individual identifiers
Important special features:
- The start of validity of a WLAN guest ID can be a maximum of 180 days in the future
- Up to three devices can be registered in the network with one Wi-Fi guest ID. However, it is not permitted to use one Wi-Fi guest ID for several guests. Each guest receives their own non-transferable identifier.
- The connection to the SSID "GUEST" is WPA/WPA2 encrypted. It is therefore necessary to enter a WLAN password to establish a connection. As this password for the WPA/WPA2 connection to the SSID "GUEST" is identical for all guests, this encryption does not secure the connection. The login is solely for operational reasons to reduce the number of mobile devices connecting automatically. Guests also receive a personal ID with their own password for authentication.
- The guest(s) can log in to all Universität Hamburg access points using a browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, ...). After successfully logging in, guests can access the Internet using the usual protocols.
- The areas in which the University of Hamburg's WLAN is available can be found in the regularly updated list of locations. The list contains the entries of the rooms equipped with access points (AP). The reception area is not limited to the room indicated in the table, but depends on the local conditions. The outside areas of the University of Hamburg are only covered to a very limited extent by access points installed in the building.
- Please check in good time before the start of an event whether the planned event area is located in the reception area of the UHH WLAN.
- If you require more extensive WLAN coverage for your event, please send an enquiry to the RRZ-ServiceLine at the RRZ in good time. Only in this way is it possible to make a qualified statement as to whether and in what time frame the desired additional WLAN coverage can be realised.
T-Identifier
Technical identifiers (T-identifiers) are special accounts that are used for non-personal tasks, services or processes. They help to identify and organise various technical units securely and efficiently.
The format of this identifier always begins with a t.
Who receives this type of identification:
- T-identifiers can be requested for the following groups of people:
- Persons providing services
- University members who need to access special resources of the University of Hamburg with increased authorisations.

How to apply for this type of identification:

T-identifiers are valid for 1 year from the date of application.
The validity period is also linked to the validity period of the underlying user ID.
- Users will be notified of the expiry date in good time.
- The validity of the T-identifier can then be extended via the RRZ-ServicePortal.
Important special features:
- After application and approval, you will receive an e-mail with your access data for your T-ID.
Please change the initial password immediately.
- This is currently only possible on a Windows workstation computer (FMD) managed by the RRZ.
You can use it to change your password as follows:
- Press the keys on your keyboard simultaneously:

- Enter your login name in the top field:
UNI-HAMBURG\<your T-identifier> - Enter the current password in the field below and the new password in the following fields.

- In the event that you cannot use your own FMD computer to change the password:
- Please ask your colleagues if anyone there uses an FMD computer and use the other person's device once.
- If you have access to a pool room with FMD computers, you can also change the password there.
- Otherwise, please come to an RRZ ServiceDesk and use one of the FMD computers available there to carry out the necessary password change.

Training- / short-term identification
The training/short-term IDs can be requested for training courses, conferences or meetings that require more services than the university's WLAN guest access.

- Training/short-term identifiers can be used for the following services/systems:
How to apply for this type of identification:
Only employees of the University of Hamburg can order training / short-term identification in the RRZ-ServicePortal.
How long is this type of identification valid?

- Training / short-term IDs are not provided with their own UHH e-mail inbox
- It is not possible to print, copy or scan on the UHH multifunction printers
- The training/short-term IDs cannot be used for CommSy. If necessary, please ask your teacher to invite you to the required CommSy portal in order to obtain an ID for CommSy.
- These identifiers are not suitable for permanent, full-scale work with an FMD (Fully Managed Device - see here for details). In justified cases, please apply for a user ID in the application portal
