Terms of use
Licence conditions
A distinction is made between use for research and teaching and use in other areas. There is a GitLab Ultimate licence exclusively for research and teaching projects.
Anyone who cannot fulfil these conditions must use the GitLab Community Edition (CE). This applies, for example, to GitLab projects from administration or IT operations.
User group
UHH members can use the GitLab service with their user ID without special activation. External IDs can be entered for collaboration on existing projects. Project owners/managers must contact the ServiceLine for this.
Access
Worldwide access to both GitLab servers is enabled via https. Access via SSH is only possible from the University of Hamburg network. This means that members of the university can only access gitlab via SSH when travelling or from home if VPN is used. External persons without a user ID cannot use SSH and must use https.
Quota
There is a quota system in GitLab. Currently, a user may create a maximum of 10 projects by default. The quota is 20 GB per project/group. Please contact the RRZ service line(rrz-serviceline"AT"uni-hamburg.de) and enter your user ID and the project name or group name if you require more space.
Data protection
Sensitive personal data may not be stored in the repositories on the RRZ Gitlab server. If in doubt, please contact:
