Office for macOS
Office365 is also available for macOS. Employees of the University of Hamburg should instead apply for a license of Office 2024 via the RRZ-ServicePortal. This version may only be installed on corporate devices.
End of life for legacy-mode for Outlook 365
In Oktober 2025, the following changes concerning Outlook for macOS are coming, when you use Microsoft Office 365:
- Users of Exchange mailboxes and also of Outlook for mac can't use the Office-365-licensed version anymore, they'll have to switch to a volume license of Office 2021 or Office 2024. These have to be applied for via the RRZ ServicePortal!
- Mac-users, who don't use Outlook or don't have an Exchange mailbox are not required to change the Office license.
- Users of Office 2016 or 2019 should update to a more current version of the volume license (2021/2024), because the support from Microsoft has been terminated for these versions. They can apply for the new versions via the RRZ Serviceportal.
Technical background for this change is the deprecation of the legacy-mode for Outlook, which is mandatory for using our Exchange-servers.
