Instructions for Microsoft Windows
Starting Point / Basic Information
- Please note that the actual appearance of the application in the screenshots may vary depending on the version of the software being used
- The latest operating system updates are installed on your device, and you are using the latest version of the software
Step 1
Download the latest version of the software:
(You have to authenticate with your user ID to download)
cisco-secure-client-win-5.1.9.113-predeploy-k9.zip
File checksum: SHA1: 74327df5be21f14b98829efd65df6b4000cfae9f
The file must be extracted after downloading and contains:
setup.exe -> Launches the installation program with step-by-step guidance
cisco-secure-client-win-5.1.9.113-dart-predeploy-k9.msi -> Installs only the VPN client if needed
cisco-secure-client-win-5.1.9.113-dart-predeploy-k9.msi -> Installs an additional tool for advanced troubleshooting if needed

cisco-secure-client-win-arm64-5.1.9.113-core-vpn-predeploy-k9.msi -> Installs the VPN client version for Windows ARM processors

cisco-secure-client-win-arm64-5.1.9.113-dart-predeploy-k9.msi -> installs an additional tool for advanced problem analysis (if needed) in the version for Windows ARM processors

Step 2
Open the setup file, accept the license terms, and select the components to install. We recommend a full installation.
Step 3
When starting for the first time, you must enter the VPN gateway:
vpn.rrz.uni-hamburg.de
Then click “Connect”
A webpage will then open where you must authenticate with your username and password.
If your username is already subject to 2FA, you must also authenticate with a second factor.

To disconnect, click “Disconnect” in the same window

Step 4 (Optional)
If you wish to access your local network while connected to the VPN, please configure the appropriate setting.
Warning:
This is a security risk! Under no circumstances should you configure this setting on an unsecured network (e.g., an internet café)!
