Building Information Modeling (BIM) project

The RRZ offers virtual servers for their own IT services. Virtualization software is used to operate virtual server instances as “guest systems” on the “host system” of a physical server.

Scientific Remote Desktops (SRDs) are RRZ-operated virtual workstations, that facilitate interactive work in a desktop environment. This includes SRDs for the use of hardware that is more powerful than the regular workstation equipment.

The Audio lab is a Universität Hamburg facility, which offers various services related to audiovisual media. It provides equipment, for example, professional microphones, camcorders, laptops with processing software for digital videos, and digitalization services.

Audacity is an open-source program for recording and editing common audio file formats. In addition to recording and comprehensively editing podcasts, the software can also import data from carriers, such as CDs etc.

workplace booking tool (ABT)

Universität Hamburg will introduce a desk booking system for desk-sharing. The software allows you to book workplaces, work-pool spaces, individual offices, and meeting and conference rooms. The roll-out will start in 2024.

Adobe Digital Editions

Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) is a commercial e-book reader and manager. Digital content can be acquired and downloaded via ADE, so contents can be accessed both online and offline. Contents are available on all devices that have ADE installed.

Adobe Creative Cloud

The fee-based Adobe Creative Cloud license (approx. €260 per year with a 3-year minimum duration) provides access to all Adobe programs, including Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, and more. Gimp, Inkscape, and the Affinity programs are alternatives.

Adobe Connect

Adobe Connect is an online meeting service and an alternative to Zoom. It features, among other things, permanent reusable rooms and separate file storage in the Connect server for each meeting so files can be used after the meeting is closed.

Adobe Acrobat DC Pro

The fee-based Adobe Acrobat DC Pro license offers all features of the standard version and can also be used on macOS and mobile devices. Use Adobe Acrobat DC Pro to convert scanned documents into full PDFs, to make parts of the document illegible, and to compare PDFs directly.
