Windows 11: New standard (also for replacement or new deliveries)

Effective immediately, Windows laptops and desktops will be issued by RRZ with Windows 11 preinstalled.

All devices administrated by the RRZ (FMD) with Windows 10 will be upgraded to Windows 11 by mid-October 2025, as manufacturer support will expire at that time.
Users will be informed in advance by email about the upcoming upgrade of their personal end device. The Windows 11 upgrade will be carried out via the familiar software distribution system and can also be postponed via this system.

Windows 11 will not significantly change your daily work processes. The main change you will notice is the layout of the user interface.

Users of self-managed devices (SMD) must upgrade their devices to Windows 11 themselves.
