Ab sofort findet die Installation von Windows Updates auf vom RRZ verwalteten Endgeräten (z.B. FMD, FMDmA) sofort nach der Freigabe der Updates statt. Wir empfehlen den dann nötigen Neustart selber zeitnah auszuführen. Spätestens 3 Tage später erfolgt ein erzwungener Neustart, der 15 Minuten vorher angekündigt wird. In der Zwischenzeit wird mehrfach daran erinnert, dass ein Neustart nötig ist. An dem Symbol neben der Uhr erkennen Sie zusätzlich, dass ein Neustart nötig ist:

Die Windows Updates werden normalerweise einmal im Monat freigegeben – am Montagvormittag nach dem zweiten Dienstag des jeweiligen Monats.

Sollte ein Rechner an diesem Montag nicht an sein, dann erfolgt sie Installation nach dem nächsten Start des Rechners, ein zwangsweiser Neustart erfolgt dann 3 Tage später.

Das RRZ bemüht sich generell darum, dass so wenig Reboots wie möglich erfolgen müssen. Die Entscheidung, ob ein Reboot nötig ist, liegt aber bei den Herstellern von Hardware, Betriebssystem und Software. Bitte starten Sie Ihren Rechner möglichst zeitnah, nachdem Sie Aufforderungen zu einem Neustart erhalten. So stellen Sie sicher, dass die nötigen Sicherheitsupdates auch Wirkung haben.

From now on, Windows updates will be installed on devices managed by the RRZ (e.g. FMD, FMDmA) immediately after they are approved. We recommend that you perform the required restart yourself as soon as possible. A forced restart will occur at the latest three days later, with a notification sent 15 minutes in advance. Windows Updates are usually released once a month – on the Monday morning following the second Tuesday of the month.

If a computer is not turned on that Monday, the installation will take place the next time the computer is started, and a forced restart will occur 3 days later.

The RRZ generally aims to keep the number of reboots to a minimum. However, the decision on whether a reboot is necessary lies with the manufacturers of the hardware, operating system and software. Please restart your computer as soon as possible after receiving prompts to do so. This ensures that the necessary security updates take effect.
