Login, usage and function restrictions
-
GitLab uses the 2FA method with an OTP (one-time password authenticator) app or a WebAuthn device (e.g., a Yubikey) for login security. When logging in, you will be asked for an additional code after entering your usual username and password. This can be generated either with an app installed on your smartphone, such as Google or Microsoft Authenticator, or with a U2F device such as a Yubikey. You can find further information under 'First steps'
- Furthermore, for security reasons, SSH access is restricted to the university network (*.uni-hamburg.de). Worldwide access is available via https.
-
Authentication on the command line (e.g., for cloning projects) via HTTPS with a password is no longer possible after activating 2FA. Please use the SSH key or personal access token to access the command line.
-
The project storage space made available is quota-based. The maximum project size is 20 GB. It can be increased by arrangement. To do so, please contact the RRZ ServiceLine. Quotas are allocated in the interests of stable and secure operation.
-
GitLab pages cannot be offered because they are not compatible with the WWW policy of the UHH.
-
The “Incoming mail” function can only be used to a limited extent. Only “Reply by Email” is supported. The features “New issue by email”, “New merge request by email” and “Service Desk” are not offered due to incompatibility with the operating concept of the UHH mail servers.
