Instreuctions for Apple macOS
Prerequisites / Basic Information

Step 1
Download the latest version of the software:
(You must authenticate with your user ID to download)
Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client for macOS (Version 5.1.9.113)

Step 2
Open the downloaded disk image and perform the installation as shown
(If you are reinstalling the software, e.g., because a new version has been released on this page, please uninstall the program as described here)


Step 3
Important: Please deselect the installable components marked in the red box in the image. These must not be installed
Then continue with the installation




Step 4
Start the “Cisco Secure Client”

Step 5
When starting for the first time, you must enter the VPN gateway:
vpn.rrz.uni-hamburg.de
Then click on “Connect”
A webpage will then open where you must authenticate yourself with your username and password.
If your user ID is already subject to 2FA, you must also authenticate with a second factor.
Disconnect
To disconnect, click “Disconnect” in the same window

Step 6 (Optional)
If you wish to access your local network while connected via VPN, please configure the appropriate settings.
Warning:
This is a security risk! Under no circumstances should you configure this setting on an unsecured network (e.g., an internet café)!
