Access and Availability
For each Managed Linux server, we create an AD group according to the naming scheme R-ML-ml-s-<hostname>-users during setup.
The applicant is the administrator of this group. The applicant can therefore enter ORG or O-AD groups in this group, which contain the user IDs that are allowed to log on to the server via SSH and execute the agreed sudo rights.
You should specify these AD group(s) when submitting the application. However, the applicant can also enter these or other AD groups later. These AD groups must be of type ORG- or O- and are mandatory in order to gain access to the server, as there is no local user administration on Managed Linux servers.
If you do not have a suitable AD group, you can order one. You can then enter additional user IDs yourself or remove them from the group. Access management to the server is then completely in the hands of the applicant.
Further information on the naming concept for AD groups at the UHH can be found in the relevant web pages on AD group administration.
The login to the Managed Linix server is done according to the naming scheme <UserID>@uni-hamburg.de@<hostname>.
The server can only be accessed via SSH from the university network. You must therefore use the UHH VPN client from outside the university.
It is possible to set up additional A records (alias names) for the C name of the server and equip them with a certificate. Please refer to the notes on domain setup.
