Information on Data Protection
Please note that you must operate your web application in accordance with the GDPR. This also includes the use of web tracking tools or web tracking services:
- The tool you are considering must be operated in compliance with data protection laws.
- Visitors to a website must be informed about tracking and be able to object to it (and must then, of course, not be subject to web tracking). It is best to create a privacy policy for this purpose, which you can provide as a link on every web page, just like the imprint. You can use the privacy policy on the RRZ website as a guide, for example.
- The owner of a website is responsible for compliance with these points.
Google Analytics, for example, cannot be used in compliance with data protection regulations and therefore may not be used. With Matomo, the RRZ offers a data protection-compliant tool that can be used by owners of web applications upon request. It should be noted that not every web application offers the option of integrating the Matomo tracking code or to import log data to Matomo.
If you process personal or personally identifiable data in the web application, you will find specific information on what you need to bear in mind and who to contact if you have any questions on this topic on the website of the Competence Center for Information Security and Data Processing at the University of Hamburg.
