Office 2021
What should I pay particular attention to after updating to Office 2021?
- You will find the search in Outlook and other Office programs in the window bar
- Pinned icons of Office programs disappear from the taskbar during the update. The programs must be pinned there again. To do this, right-click on a started Office application in the taskbar and select "Pin to taskbar" to keep this program permanently in the taskbar
- In Outlook, buttons for replying and forwarding are now also available in the mail view
Why isn't Office 2024 introduced straight away?
Office 2021 is already useed by some users and has not led to any problems. Tests on Office 2024 have not yet been able to take place and the amount of changes will make these tests necessary. With the switch to Windows 11, a major change is also on the way. Office 2021 is currently the better choice to reduce complexity.
The next Office migration will then probably introduce Office365.
Why are users of "Visio" and "Project" at the back of the queue?
The licensing of Visio and Project will be switched to subscription. Some processes need to be prepared for this. We will contact affected users by mid-September at the latest to inform them about the modalities. If you have installed Visio and/or Projekt on your devices but do not use them at all, please cancel the software in the RRZ Service Portal to avoid unnecessary costs.
