OneDrive and synchronisation FAQ
How do I reset OneDrive?
On Windows
To synchronize the content in OneDrive or reset the desktop program, you can log out and log back in. This should load the correct file paths in the cloud directory and display your files again.
If you are still experiencing issues, you can log out of your Microsoft 365 Education account on your entire operating system under Settings → Accounts → Access work and school accounts. Restart your Windows computer and log back in.
You can also clear your OneDrive cached credentials or reset OneDrive.
Other operating systems
For instructions for operating systems other than Windows, search the internet and refer to the Microsoft support pages with the keywords: Reset OneDrive, [your operating system version]
Why does autosave not work anymore?
It still works:
The “auto save” feature in Word, for example, was long a feature that temporarily saved the document after a certain amount of time. This feature still exists in the options and can be found under File -> Options -> Save -> Save Documents and is called “Save AutoRecover information.” You can set the time interval yourself.
AutoSave as a slider in the upper right corner is now the function to synchronize the document with a cloud area such as OneDrive or SharePoint. The document must be located there for this to work and be “on.”
This means that local “My Documents” as well as drives are not compatible with AutoSave. The function is cloud-based.
