Sophos Anti Virus

The University of Hamburg has a Sophos Intercept X campus license, which enables all members of the university to use this threat protection software.

University-owned devices

Sophos Intercept X is now available for end devices (Windows, macOS, Linux) and servers (Windows, Linux). Intercept X will replace the previous virus protection software "Sophos Endpoint Security and Control" and must be installed on all university-owned devices by 20.7.2023.

• All Fully Managed Devices (FMD) supplied by the RRZ will be updated by the RRZ.
• For selself-managed devices you can find instructions for the installation here.

Private devices

If "Sophos Endpoint Security and Control" is installed on your personal end device, please uninstall this software by 20.07.2023, as support will be discontinued by the manufacturer at that time (see Windows instructions / Mac instructions).

Our contract includes Sophos Home Premium for sole use on private devices. The use of "Sophos Home Premium" on university-owned devices is prohibited.
Please note that the RRZ does not provide support for "Sophos Home Premium".
