Instructions for Surfmail migration on 28.04.2026

On April 28, 2026, “Surfmail", the web-based access to the UHH student mailbox, was migrated to a new system. This change affected not only the login process—which now uses the central UHH login including two-factor authentication (2FA)—but also the website’s layout. Students now have a more modern and powerful website for managing their email.

Important information:

  • The migration affects only the Surfmail website. Access via email apps remains unchanged.
  • The old Surfmail web interface will remain accessible until June 15, 2026, at https://surfmail-alt.rrz.uni-hamburg.de.
  • If you used email signatures, contacts, calendars, or tasks in the old Surfmail, you must migrate these yourself! Details are described here on these pages.
