Apple Mac systems
The Regional Computing Center (RRZ) supports the operating systems, that receive updates from Apple. At the moment, these are macOS Ventura (13), Sonoma (14) und Sequoia (15).
Generelly, the newest and the last two recent versions of macOS receive updates. That means, older versions of macOS may not be used at the universities network, see also the net-policy of UHH (https://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/beratung-und-kontakt/policies/netpolicy.html).
For macOS, the follwing services of the RRZ and also apps can be used or applied for:
- Access the file service UHHDisk via SMB (Finder -> Go to -> Connect to server)
- Use the file-cloud UHHShare in browser as well as with the Filr UHHShare desktop client
- Use the file-cloud UHHCloud in browser as well as with the Nextcloud client
- Printing on the multifunctional devices with Q Pilot client
- WiFi-access over eduroam
- Network access from home to UHH with the Cisco AnyConnect VPN-client
- Use Sophos Intercept X (company-owned devices) or Sophos Home Premium (privately owned devices)
- Use of statistical apps like SPSS and STATA
- E-Mail with Apple Mail and Outlook for Exchange and Surfmail
- Use of Microsoft Office (365)
- Editing of PDF-files with Foxit PDF Editor Pro
- Usage of our in-house font TheSans UHH
- Literature managment Endnote
- Text analysis with MAXQDA
- Videoconferencing with Zoom and DFNConf
- Project management with Mindmanager
- Mathematical Apps like Matlab, Mathematica, Maple, IDL and Envi
